What is OpenWorks?
OpenWorks is the beginnings of a non-profit, cooperative community in Ĺtautahi, Aotearoa, intended to help us connect with each other again.
Our modern world is a lonely place, and big corporations want to keep it that way. Let's come together and remember what it means to be human.
OpenWorks Market
This is a free community marketplace without big tech looming over your shoulder, tracking every click and trying to monetise every interaction. Always free, always transparent, always real.
It's a place to list things for sale, make trades, post want-ads, find a job, discover locally owned small businesses, and make connections. All communication is person-to-person. There is no tracking, no corporate spam, and no fees to create your listing. Buy, sell, trade, and make some new friends.
OpenWorks Makerspace
Ever felt the itch to create something, but lack the tools, space, materials, or knowledge to bring it into the real world? Need to change your brakes but don't have a garage? Maybe you want to forge a sword, sew a dress, or build a robot.
A makerspace is a fully stocked workspace filled with like-minded people who are passionate about creating, building, fixing, and solving problems with their hands and minds. It's a place where you can work on projects, help others, and find help. You can expect to find a full suite of tools for woodworking, metal fabrication, electronics, 3D printing, computers, sewing machines, and whatever else you want it to be!
This is a work in progress, but if that sounds cool, click the link above and help us build the makerspace that inspires you to get your hands dirty!
